Anything for Chris.

Chris Carrabba/"Dashboard Confessional" has a new album out.  "Alter The Ending."  Of course I had to go buy it on day one of its release, but like a fool I bought it at Wal Mart right after class, then went home, got on iTunes and found the deluxe version for $1 more... so I bought that too!  Its pretty sweet!  Two discs- one is the album in its fullness of sound, and the 2nd disc is the album in acoustic.  The way I love to hear Chris the most.

This album is somewhat similar in sound to The Shade of Poison Trees, but there are a few songs that could be compared to what was released on Dusk and Summer.  I'm very impressed though!  Chris continues to toy around with new styles and inspirations, different sounds etc., and each of his albums ends up unique.

It always takes me a few listens to pick a favorite, or hear something I hadn't heard before, but the catchy lyrics in "Until Morning" hooked me right away!  And yet again, although Chris has been dubbed the "Prince of Emo" in the past, this album is yet another departure from his "Swiss Army Romance" days.  There is sunshine and remnisence in this album, nothing too deep and dark.

For all you rookies out there Dashboard's catalog is full of every single emotion whether sung, or expressed through the music alone.  You are bound to hear something you like.  It may not sit well with you at first (they do their music how they want it, not how the majority does), but if you give it a chance to actually sink in, and realllllllly listen, I bet you'll hear or feel something you've experienced before, or wanted to say and couldn't, so Chris says it for you.

Joe was on the Shelf. With my heart!

I settled for Nick, because Sarah wouldn't get Joe down.  :(
But let's face it- ANYONE with good sense would settle for this little hottie.

Yah, that's right.  Just ran into him at Partyland while shopping for pirate costume stuffs.

You a pirate- what you got that eye patch on for?

Last Friday was my fabulous best friend Sarah's birthday.  She's the hottie in the middle.  Anyway, She and Kinz and I thought it would be fun to hit up Pirate Island Pizza- costumed, of course!  There is no dress up requirement, but we are just cool like that.  Sarah and I hit up Partyland for eye patches and tattoos, then we chilled with some Diet Coke (what else!?) and put finishing touches on our costumes.

We are so clever!  Instead of using the sticky glue to make the sparkles stick
we used metallic silver and pink nail polish.

Voila!

Birthday Girl ATTACK!

It was a jolly good time.  Pirate Island has GREAT pizza.  I should of taken a picture of the one we ordered- The Kraken.  Straight from the menu:  "Fer the bravest of sea dogs! We be talkin ‘bout 24 inches of swag filled bliss! Takes a mighty crew to finish ‘er off! (Best allow extra cookin’ time whilst we summon this beast from th’ depths."  It was insanely delicious, and you better believe we nearly finished THEM (because we got two!) off!

So not only is the menu in Pirate speak, but the staff is in character the entire time (although our server broke character a few times, taken aback I am sure by our buxom wench-ness), and the entire restaurant is decorated with cool stuff like this guy hanging from the ceiling...

And this guy right inside the entrance to greet brave sea-goers...

My friend Christian, who I think will be turning 6 this year, is going to have his birthday here in November.  I will get more pictures then!  If you get a chance visit a Pirate Island!  Right now they are up and down the Wasatch Front, but one is coming to Flagstaff, Ariz. soon!  Dress up too!  It makes it an even more involved experience!

G'Day Mateys!
